Welcome to The Haefen. I am incredibly proud to lead a school that is built on care, understanding, and a genuine belief in every child’s potential. At The Haefen we are a supportive community where every child is valued, celebrated, and given the opportunity to shine. We are also very privileged to be part of the LIFE Education Trust and the wider network of schools that means we are linked to. Through this partnership we share the same strong values and a collective commitment to ensuring that all of our pupils, staff, families, and wider stakeholders have the opportunity to flourish.

Many of our pupils arrive with experiences of challenge in their previous educational journeys. Our role is to provide a safe, nurturing environment – a true haven – where children can rebuild confidence, experience success, and rediscover a positive relationship with learning. We take time to understand each child as an individual and support them to feel secure, respected, and ready to grow.

Our stage not age approach means that we teach pupils at the level that is right for them, rather than simply according to their year group. By focusing first on securing the key skills and knowledge each child needs, we enable them to make meaningful progress at their own pace while still maintaining high expectations. Every pupil at The Haefen is supported to aim high and achieve their very best.

Alongside academic learning, we place great importance on emotional wellbeing, resilience, and social development. Our dedicated staff team are highly skilled in supporting children to manage big feelings, build positive relationships, and develop the confidence to try new things and overcome challenges.

Strong partnerships with families are incredibly important to us. We value the knowledge and insight that parents and carers bring, and we work closely together to ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.
